Health – Ever heard the expression “if your dog’s out of shape, you’re not exercising enough?” Studies show that dog owners tend to stay in better shape physically and are less likely to develop a long list of medical conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes. This goes double for a hunting dog. Not only will they keep you on your feet for walks and playing, but you’ll also be active for training, hunting, and helping burn off all that birdy energy between seasons.
Challenge – Training and maintaining a good hunting dog is a challenge that you’ll feel good about conquering. Starting out with your own dog can be an intimidating process. You’ve seen people out with their own dogs, and it’s awesome, but are you really capable of doing it on your own? Yes. Yes you are. You may not know it now, but the first time you get your dog out on the hunt to see how far you’ve come…well, you’ll never forget that feeling.
Community – If you own a hunting dog, you know there’s no such thing as a stranger in this community. Hunters love our dogs. We love talking about them. We love swapping stories and advice. You own a hunting dog and you are never far from the answers to any of your questions. There are hundreds of breed or game specific clubs out there and thousands of online forums and communities.
Bragging rights – Hunting dogs are the gifts that keep on giving. Not only will you feel a tremendous sense of pride just being out with you and your dog in the field, but you’ll love getting to tell your buddies about the latest great accomplishment.
Hunting – Obviously. It just does not get any better than hitting the field, woods, or blind with your best friend at your side.
